How to Store Flowers Overnight

If you must hold flowers overnight, recut and hydrate them, then leave them in a cool interior room. A refrigerator can help if it is not too cold and contains no fruit.

  1. Recut and put stems in water as soon as you can.
  2. Use a cool room. Avoid garages that freeze or overheat.
  3. If using a fridge, keep flowers away from fruit and from vents that ice the petals.

Tulips and orchids have different cold tolerances; when in doubt, a cool room is safer than a very cold fridge.
