How to Arrange Flowers in a Vase

Start with a clean vase about half as tall as the stems. Build a grid with greenery or criss-crossed stems, then add a focal flower and supporting blooms.

  1. Fill the vase and add a loose foliage grid.
  2. Place the largest flowers first, slightly off-centre.
  3. Fill gaps with medium stems, then airy fillers such as baby's breath.
  4. Turn the vase as you work so the back is not empty.

Professional floral foam is optional and not required for a simple home vase. If you use foam, keep it fully saturated and dispose of it responsibly — it is not biodegradable.
