How to Care for Cut Lilies

Let lily buds open in clean water, remove anthers to reduce stains, and never leave true lilies where cats can reach them.

1. Recut stems and support the height.
2. As each flower opens, pinch off the pollen-bearing anthers.
3. Keep the vase away from cats — Lilium can cause kidney failure.

Oriental lilies are strongly scented; move them out of a small bedroom if the scent is too much.
